Text on Image / Caption Tool
Add captions or text overlays to photos with bundled fonts, shadow, outline and alignment. Apply the same caption to a whole batch. Free.
How to use the Text on Image / Caption Tool
- 1Drop your photos, one or a whole batch.
- 2Type the caption (multiple lines are fine) and pick a bundled font, size and colour.
- 3Set alignment and position, then add a shadow, outline or background box for readability.
- 4Download each image or the whole batch as a ZIP.
Put a price, a promise or a name on every photo in one go
Sale badges, free-shipping banners, a colour name under each variant, a product title on a social carousel, a caption on a Pinterest pin: sellers add text to images constantly, and doing it one photo at a time in an editor is where the afternoon goes. The Text on Image / Caption Tool adds the same caption to a whole batch with one set of controls, and because the position is relative to the image, it lands in the same place on every size.
How it works
- Drop your photos.
- Type the caption in the text box. Line breaks are respected, so a two-line headline or a three-line list works.
- Choose a font. Ten bundled fonts are loaded locally: Inter, Roboto, Montserrat, Poppins, Oswald, Anton, Roboto Slab, Playfair Display, Lobster and Pacifico, plus the system fonts on your device. Set the size, colour and alignment.
- Position the text with the position grid and a margin.
- Make it readable: a shadow lifts text off busy photos, an outline keeps white text legible on light areas, and a background box with adjustable opacity guarantees contrast anywhere.
- Download individually or as a ZIP.
The whole batch re-renders when you move a slider, so you tune the look once and it applies to every photo.
Why it matters
Text belongs on some images and is banned from others, and the rules are specific. Amazon forbids text on the main image but welcomes it on the other slots; TikTok Shop wants a clean first image with no text overlays; eBay says no added text on listing photos; Daraz rejects phone numbers and promotional text. The TikTok Shop image rules and the Amazon guide spell this out. Off the marketplaces the rules flip. Facebook recommends that under 20 percent of an ad image be text; Instagram stories are 1080Γ1920 with the top and bottom 250 px covered by the interface, so captions belong in the middle band. Feed posts are 1080 px wide, where text at 5 to 6 percent of the image height, roughly 55 to 65 px, is readable on a phone.
Tips
- Contrast beats decoration. White text, a 3 px dark outline and a soft shadow work on almost any photo.
- Use a background box at 60 to 70 percent opacity for prices, so the number reads instantly.
- Two fonts maximum: a display face like Anton or Oswald for the headline, Inter or Roboto for details.
- Need a different label on each photo, such as a colour name per variant? The Meme / Label Maker handles per-image text; this caption tool is built for one caption across many.
- For repeated brand marks rather than captions, use the Watermark Tool; for layouts with arrows and icons, the Product Infographic Maker.
- Resize to the target platform with the Social Media Image Resizer before captioning, so the text size is judged at the final resolution.
Nothing leaves your device
Fonts are served from this site and cached, and the rendering runs on a canvas in your browser. Your images never leave your browser, the caption text is not sent anywhere, and there are no accounts or limits beyond what your device can handle.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add the same caption to many photos at once?
Yes, that is the main purpose of the tool. Drop a batch, type the caption once, and every photo gets it in the same relative position with the same font and effects. Change a setting and the whole batch re-renders. Download the results individually or as a single ZIP.
Which fonts are available?
Ten fonts are bundled and load from this site with no external requests: Inter, Roboto, Montserrat, Poppins, Oswald, Anton, Roboto Slab, Playfair Display, Lobster and Pacifico. System fonts such as Arial, Georgia and Impact are also listed. Bold display faces like Anton suit prices and headlines; Inter and Roboto suit small details.
How do I make text readable on a busy photo?
Combine three effects: a drop shadow with a little blur, an outline of 2 to 4 px in a contrasting colour, and, for prices or short labels, a semi-transparent background box. White text with a dark outline is readable on nearly any image. Keep the size at least 5 percent of the image height.
Is text allowed on Amazon or TikTok Shop product images?
Not on the first image. Amazon's main image and TikTok Shop's first image must be a clean product shot with no text overlays, and eBay and Daraz discourage added text on all listing photos. Secondary images on Amazon, Shopify and Etsy, plus every social platform, are fine.
Can I write multiple lines?
Yes. Press Enter in the caption box to start a new line; the alignment setting (left, centre or right) applies to the whole block. A two-line caption with a headline on top and a smaller detail below is a common layout for sale posts and product carousels.
