🔃Image Flip & Rotate

Phone photos land in a listing sideways, a flat-lay was shot upside down, a supplier sends 200 images that all need a quarter turn, or a mirrored selfie shows product text backwards. The Image Flip & Rotate tool is the quickest rotate image online fix for all of it, and because it runs in batch it is also the way to bulk rotate images without opening each one.

How it works

1. Drop the images that need fixing.
2. Choose a rotation: the 90°, 180° and 270° buttons cover most cases, and the angle slider handles anything else, such as straightening a 3° tilt.
3. Add a horizontal flip to mirror image content or a vertical flip to turn it upside down; flips can be combined with rotation.
4. For angles that are not multiples of 90°, pick the background colour that fills the corners (white, transparent PNG, or any colour).
5. Process and download one file or the ZIP.

Rotation by a right angle is lossless in pixel terms: the tool simply remaps every pixel to its new position, so a 3000×2000 photo becomes an identical 2000×3000 photo. Odd angles expand the canvas so nothing is cut off, which is why a background is needed; a 45° turn makes the canvas about 41% larger on each side.

Orientation stored in the EXIF tag is read before processing, so a photo that looks correct on your phone is the starting point, not the raw sensor orientation.

Why it matters

A sideways image is the fastest way to look like an unreliable seller, and platforms will not fix it for you:

• eBay shows exactly what you upload and accepts up to 9000 px on the longest side, so the rotated result will not be resized.
• Some marketplace viewers ignore the EXIF orientation flag; baking the rotation into the pixels avoids an Amazon main image that is upright on your phone and sideways in the listing.
• Etsy and Shopify both crop thumbnails from the uploaded orientation, so a rotated portrait shot gets a different crop than the landscape original.

Mirroring has its own uses: a left-facing shoe and a right-facing shoe from one photo, or matching a lifestyle scene where every product should face the centre of the page. Be careful with anything carrying a logo or text, since a mirrored brand name is an easy way to fail a marketplace review.

Tips

• Rotate first, then crop with the Image Cropper to remove any padded corners from an odd angle.
• Use a transparent background for odd angles when the image will be placed on a coloured page later.
• Once orientation is baked in, strip the old orientation tag along with GPS data using the EXIF / Metadata Remover, so no viewer rotates it a second time.
• Batch rotation pairs well with the Bulk Image Resizer and the Image Format Converter when a supplier folder needs turning, shrinking and converting to JPG.

Privacy

Every rotation and flip is computed in your browser with the Canvas API. Your images never leave your browser, and files are discarded from memory as soon as you close the tab.
