How to use the Image Dimension & Size Checker

  1. 1Drop the folder of images you plan to upload.
  2. 2Read the table: width, height, aspect ratio, file size and format for every file.
  3. 3Pick a marketplace to run pass/fail checks against its rules.
  4. 4Fix the flagged files and export the table as CSV if you need a record.

Check every image against marketplace rules before you upload

Uploading 150 product images and then discovering, one rejection email at a time, that a dozen were under 1000 px or over 3 MB is a slow way to find out. The Image Dimension & Size Checker reads a whole folder, lists width, height, aspect ratio, file size and format in a table, and runs a pass/fail check against the marketplace you choose. It is an image requirements checker you run before Seller Central does.

How it works

  1. Drop the images you intend to upload; up to 200 at a time.
  2. The table fills in immediately with dimensions, ratio (for example 1:1 or 4:3), megapixels, file size and format for each file.
  3. Choose a marketplace: Amazon, Shopify, Etsy, eBay, Daraz or TikTok Shop. Each row is then marked pass or fail with the reason.
  4. Fix the failures, re-check, and export the table as CSV for your records or a supplier.

The checks come from the same rules that power the Amazon platform page and its siblings: minimum and maximum longest side, maximum file size, accepted formats, required aspect ratio with tolerance and, for platforms that demand it, a white-background test that samples the image edges for pure white.

The rules it checks

MarketplaceLongest sideMax sizeRatioWhite background
Amazon1000 to 10,000 px10 MBAnyRequired, pure RGB 255
Shopify800 to 4472 px20 MB1:1 (5% tolerance)No
EtsyAt least 2000 px20 MB4:3 (8% tolerance)No
eBay500 to 9000 px12 MBAnyNo
Daraz330 to 3000 px3 MB1:1 (3% tolerance)Required
TikTok Shop600 to 4000 px5 MB1:1 (3% tolerance)Required

Format rules are checked too: WebP fails on Amazon, Etsy and eBay, BMP passes only on eBay, and HEIC passes only on Shopify.

Why it matters

A failed amazon image checker result is cheap; a suppressed listing is not. Amazon hides listings whose main image lacks a white background or falls under 1000 px, and Daraz simply refuses files over 3 MB. Etsy does not reject a square image, but it crops it to 4:3 in search, so the ratio warning tells you which thumbnails will lose their top and bottom. Seeing all of this in one table, sorted by status, means you fix the ten problem files instead of re-processing all 150.

The CSV export is useful when a supplier or photographer delivers the images: send them the list of files that failed and why.

Tips

  • Sort the table by file size or longest side to spot outliers fast.
  • Failures for size and ratio are fixed in one pass by the Marketplace Preset Resizer; for Amazon main images specifically, the Amazon Product Image Resizer also forces pure white.
  • File-size failures go to the Bulk Image Compressor with a target under the cap.
  • The white-background test samples edges, so a product that touches the frame can show a false warning; check the image manually in that case.
  • Checking passport or visa photos? The ID Photo Compliance Checker tests head size, background and file limits against country rules instead.

Marketplaces revise their limits; verify with the official source linked from each guide, such as the Amazon product image requirements, before a large upload.

Privacy

To check image size the tool only reads file headers and decodes images locally. Your images never leave your browser, the table exists only in the page, and the CSV is generated on your device.

Frequently asked questions

What does the white-background check actually test?

It samples pixels along all four edges of the image and measures how close they are to pure RGB 255, 255, 255. Amazon, Daraz and TikTok Shop require pure white on the main image. Slightly grey edges, common in studio shots, are flagged so you can fix them before upload.

Why did a square image fail the Etsy check?

Etsy crops listing thumbnails to 4:3, so the checker warns when an image is more than 8% away from that ratio. The upload itself will be accepted, but the thumbnail will lose its top and bottom. Crop or pad to 2000Γ—1500 to control what shoppers see.

Can I check images for two marketplaces at once?

Switch the marketplace dropdown and the pass/fail column updates instantly without re-reading the files; the dimension data is already in the table. Export a CSV for each platform if you need separate reports.

What is in the CSV export?

One row per file with file name, width, height, aspect ratio, megapixels, file size in KB, format, the selected marketplace, pass or fail, and the reasons for any failure. It opens in Excel or Google Sheets for sharing with a supplier or photographer.

Does it check the 85% product-fill rule for Amazon?

Not automatically; measuring how much of the frame the product occupies needs a judgement about what counts as product. The checker covers dimensions, size, format, ratio and background. Keep margins small in the Amazon Product Image Resizer to stay within the 85% guideline.
