SVG ↔ PNG / JPG Converter
Rasterise SVG files to PNG or JPG at any size, or trace PNG/JPG images into SVG vectors. All processing in your browser, free.
How to use the SVG ↔ PNG / JPG Converter
- 1Drop SVG files to rasterise, or a PNG/JPG to trace.
- 2Set the output size and format, or the colour count and precision for tracing.
- 3Preview the result.
- 4Download the file or a ZIP.
Logos arrive as SVG from the designer, and marketplaces refuse SVG. Stickers and print files arrive as JPG from the supplier, and the print shop wants vectors. The SVG ↔ PNG / JPG Converter covers both directions: SVG to PNG or JPG rasterisation at any pixel size with a transparent or filled background, and PNG to SVG tracing that can vectorise image files into clean scalable paths. It is a real svg converter, not a wrapper that just renames files.
How it works
SVG to PNG or JPG
- Drop one or many SVG files.
- Set the output width or height (the other side follows the viewBox), or a scale factor, and choose PNG for transparency or JPG with a background colour.
- Process and download individually or as a ZIP.
The rasteriser draws the SVG with the browser's own rendering engine, so gradients, text, masks and filters look exactly as they do on screen, at whatever resolution you ask for, including 4000 px or more for print.
PNG or JPG to SVG
- Drop a raster image; logos, icons, line art and flat illustrations trace best.
- Choose the colour count (2 for black and white line art, 4 to 16 for flat-colour logos) and the precision, which controls how closely paths follow the pixels versus how smooth and small the result is.
- Preview the traced vector over the original, then download the SVG.
Tracing uses imagetracer, which posterises the image into the chosen number of colours, finds the boundaries of each region and fits Bézier curves to them. Photos will trace, but into thousands of paths; the tool is designed for graphics.
Why it matters
Every marketplace in this list rejects SVG uploads, so a vector logo or badge must be rasterised before it can appear in a listing, store page or A+ module:
| Platform | Accepted image formats |
|---|---|
| Amazon | JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF |
| Etsy | JPG, PNG, GIF (shop icon 500×500 PNG) |
| Daraz | JPG, PNG only, under 3 MB |
| TikTok Shop | JPG, PNG, WebP |
| eBay | JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIFF |
Rasterising at the right size matters as much as the format: a 200 px logo stretched to a 1200×480 banner looks broken, while the same SVG rendered at 1200 px is crisp. In the other direction, a traced SVG lets you print a customer's JPG logo on packaging at any size, cut it on a vinyl plotter or embroider it.
Tips
- Rasterise at 2× the display size for high-density screens; a 500 px shop icon rendered from vector at 1000 px and then downsized is sharpest.
- Use JPG with a white background for marketplace images and PNG with transparency for overlays and mockups.
- Before tracing, increase contrast and remove JPEG noise, or the tracer will draw the noise; the Photo Enhancer's denoise slider helps.
- Keep colour count low: each extra colour multiplies path count and file size.
- Convert the resulting SVG icon to a data URI with the Base64 ↔ Image Converter, or generate every favicon size from it with the Favicon & App Icon Generator.
- For plain raster-to-raster changes such as WebP to JPG, the Image Format Converter is faster, and a vector QR code for print comes straight out of the QR Code Generator.
Privacy
Rendering and tracing run in your browser. Your images never leave your browser, so proprietary logos and unreleased packaging artwork stay on your machine.
Frequently asked questions
What size should I rasterise an SVG to?
Set the pixel size the destination needs: 500×500 for an Etsy shop icon, 1200×480 for a TikTok Shop banner, 2000 px for a marketplace product image. Because SVG is resolution independent, you can render the same file at any size with no loss; render at 2× for high-density screens.
Will the PNG have a transparent background?
Yes, if the SVG itself has no background element; PNG output keeps transparency. Choose JPG when the destination requires it, and the tool fills the background with the colour you pick, white by default, since JPG has no alpha channel.
Does PNG to SVG work on photographs?
It works, but the result is a posterised illustration made of many paths, not a faithful photo, and the file can be large. Tracing is designed for logos, icons, line art and flat graphics. Keep the colour count low and clean up noise before tracing for the best result.
What do colour count and precision mean?
Colour count is how many flat colours the tracer reduces the image to before finding shapes; 2 gives black-and-white line art. Precision controls how tightly paths follow pixel edges: higher is more accurate but produces more nodes and a bigger file, lower is smoother and smaller.
Can I convert many SVG files at once?
Yes. Drop up to 200 SVG files, set one output size and format, and download the results as a ZIP. Each file is rendered from its own viewBox, so mixed proportions are handled correctly. Tracing in the other direction is done one image at a time.
