Change a photo background to white, blue, red, grey or any colour

Every form and every marketplace has an opinion about the background. Amazon, Daraz and TikTok Shop main images must be pure white. Most passports want white; the UK, Schengen and Australia want light grey; some employer and exam forms specify red or blue. The Photo Background Colour Changer handles all of them with the same on-device AI cut-out, and it runs in batch so a whole shoot or a whole team gets the same treatment.

How it works

  1. Drop your photos: portraits, product shots, pets, anything with a clear subject.
  2. Choose a background: white, blue, red, grey, green, black, a two-colour gradient, transparent, or a custom HEX colour.
  3. Adjust edge smoothing if hair or fabric looks too crisp against the new colour.
  4. Download individually or as a ZIP. Transparent output is saved as PNG; everything else can be JPG.

The segmentation model produces an alpha mask for the subject, then the tool composites it onto the fill you chose. Solid colours are exact, which is what compliance checks look for: white means RGB 255, 255, 255, not "nearly white".

Which colour goes where

BackgroundWhere it is required or recommended
WhiteAmazon, Daraz and TikTok Shop main images; Pakistan, India, US, UAE, Saudi, China and Bangladesh passport photos
Light greyUK (#E8E8E8), Schengen (#EBEBEB) and Australia (#F2F2F2) passport photos
BlueNADRA CNIC, school and employee ID cards
Red, green, blackSpecific institutional forms and creative product shots
GradientLifestyle and social media product images
TransparentMockups, collages, overlaying on other designs

For the light grey presets use the custom colour field and type the HEX shown above so the result matches the spec exactly; a generic mid-grey will fail a background-colour check.

Why it matters

A white background photo is a hard requirement for the first image on Amazon, Daraz and TikTok Shop, and a compliance rejection on a passport photo can add weeks to an application. Reshooting is expensive; recolouring the background from a good existing photo takes seconds. For sellers, the same product on a consistent background across a category also raises click-through, because the grid looks intentional rather than assembled from a dozen sources.

Tips

  • Shoot against a plain wall with the subject a metre away from it. The model copes with clutter, but clean input gives cleaner edges.
  • For a red background photo or any saturated colour, watch for colour spill on light clothing; a little edge smoothing hides it.
  • Choose transparent when you plan to place the subject in the Square Image Maker or a collage; the alpha channel is preserved.
  • If you only need the cut-out, the Background Remover skips the colour step. If you need a compliant passport crop as well as the background, the Passport Photo Maker does both. The Blue Background Photo Maker has NADRA-specific blues and an ID crop.
  • Verify with the official source when a form names a colour but not a shade.

Privacy

This background color changer downloads its AI model from this site and runs it on your device. Your images never leave your browser: nothing is uploaded, nothing is kept, and it works offline once the model has loaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is the white background pure enough for Amazon?

Yes. The white preset fills with RGB 255, 255, 255, which is what the Amazon main-image rule and the Daraz and TikTok Shop guidelines require. Studio "white" photographed under lights is usually a light grey, so recolouring here is the reliable fix.

How do I get the exact light grey for a UK passport photo?

Pick Custom and enter #E8E8E8, the light grey used by the UK preset in our specs. For Schengen use #EBEBEB and for Australia #F2F2F2. The official wording is "light grey or cream" rather than a single HEX, so verify with the official source if in doubt.

Can I change the background of a product photo, not a person?

Yes. The segmentation model handles products, pets and objects as well as people, as long as the subject is reasonably distinct from the backdrop. Glass, thin wires and fur are the hardest cases; a little edge smoothing usually cleans them up.

What is the gradient option for?

It fills the background with a smooth blend between two colours you choose, for lifestyle-style product images, social posts and banners where a flat colour looks too clinical. Do not use gradients for main marketplace images or ID photos, which require a uniform colour.

Does batch mode use the same settings for every photo?

Yes. The chosen colour, smoothing and output format apply to every file in the batch, and the results are bundled into a ZIP. To give different photos different colours, run separate batches; switching the colour re-processes the current set automatically.
