  1. 1Drop your frames and drag the thumbnails into order.
  2. 2Set the frame delay, loop count and output width.
  3. 3Pick a quality level and optionally turn on Boomerang.
  4. 4Click Create GIF and watch the preview.
  5. 5Download the animated GIF.

Turn product photos into a short animation

A static listing photo shows one angle. A four-frame GIF that rotates a bag, flips a phone case from front to back, or swaps a T-shirt through its colours shows the whole product in two seconds and plays everywhere without a video player. The GIF Maker from Images stitches JPG, PNG or WebP frames into an animated GIF with control over timing, size, looping and colour quality, entirely inside your browser.

How it works

  1. Drop your frames. They are ordered by filename, and you can drag thumbnails to reorder them or remove any you do not want.
  2. Set the frame delay in milliseconds. 100 ms feels like video, 500 ms is a slideshow, and each frame can have its own delay so the hero shot holds longer.
  3. Choose the output width. Frames are resized to match, so mixed sizes are fine; the first frame's ratio is used and the others are fitted to it.
  4. Pick loop (forever, once, or a count), quality (a colour sampling setting from 1 for best to 30 for fastest), and optionally Boomerang, which appends the frames in reverse for a smooth back-and-forth loop.
  5. Click Create GIF, watch the preview, and download.

Encoding is done by gif.js in a Web Worker, so the page stays responsive while a large GIF renders.

Why it matters

  • GIF stores at most 256 colours per frame, and every frame is stored in full, so file size grows with pixels times frames. A 600×600 GIF with 6 frames is typically 400 KB to 1.2 MB; the same at 1200×1200 is four times larger.
  • Email clients and most CMS editors play GIFs but not video. Newsletters, Shopify product descriptions and blog posts are where an animated product shot works best.
  • Marketplaces mostly do not accept animation in the gallery. Amazon lists GIF as accepted but only non-animated, and eBay shows the first frame only. Use the GIF on your own store, in ads and on social, not as a listing image.
  • Product galleries convert better when they show motion: a 360 spin from 8 to 12 frames at 120 ms is the most common format.

Tips

  • Shoot frames on a tripod so only the product moves; a shifting background looks like flicker.
  • Keep GIFs for email under 1 MB. Large animations load slowly on mobile and some clients only show the first frame. Reduce width before reducing quality.
  • Boomerang doubles the frame count, so start from fewer frames when you plan to use it.
  • Resize all frames to the same dimensions first with the Bulk Image Resizer if you want exact control over cropping.
  • Prefer an interactive comparison? The Before / After Image Maker exports a two-image comparison instead. For a single image that carries all frames for CSS animation, use the Sprite Sheet Generator, and to cut an existing sheet into frames, the Image Splitter.

Privacy

Your images never leave your browser. gif.js encodes every frame on your own device, and the finished file is created in memory and handed straight to your download folder.

Frequently asked questions

How many images can I turn into a GIF?

As many as you like, but file size grows with every frame. Six to twelve frames at 600 to 800 px wide is the practical range for product animations; a 30-frame GIF at 1200 px can pass 10 MB. Reduce width first, then frame count, then quality.

What frame delay should I use?

100 to 150 ms for smooth motion such as a product spin, 400 to 800 ms for a slideshow of angles or colours, and 1000 ms or more for a text or step-by-step sequence. Delays can be set per frame, so you can hold the hero shot longer than the rest.

What does Boomerang do?

It appends the frames in reverse order after the forward sequence, so the animation plays forward then backward and loops without a jump. It is ideal for a two-angle wiggle or a lid opening and closing. It doubles the frame count, so file size roughly doubles too.

Can I upload an animated GIF to Amazon or eBay?

No. Amazon accepts GIF files only if they are not animated, and eBay shows just the first frame. Use the GIF on your own store, in emails, on social media and in ads, and export a still JPG of the best frame for marketplace galleries.

Why do colours look banded or grainy?

GIF allows 256 colours per frame, so smooth gradients and photos lose some tones. Lower the quality number (1 is best) for finer colour sampling, avoid large soft gradients in the background, and keep the width moderate; dithering is applied automatically to hide banding.
